Dr. Mayra Nunez graduated with her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University (2016) in Puerto Rico. She completed her predoctoral internship at University Behavioral Health Care–Rutgers University, providing services in a community mental health clinic and a school-based program. She completed her post-doctoral training in a private practice setting, working with children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Nunez applies Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat adjustment, mood, and anxiety disorders; trauma; postpartum depression; and personality disorders. She also received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for borderline personality disorder and self-harming behaviors. Dr. Nunez has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, medical and forensic hospitals, school-based programs, and private practice. She is especially passionate about helping clients navigate life transitions, build resilience during periods of change, and develop practical skills to create meaningful and fulfilling lives. Dr. Nunez has a special interest in perinatal mental health and supports clients navigating pregnancy, postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and emotional adjustment to parenthood. She is currently completing a perinatal mental health certification through PSI. Dr. Nunez holds a psychology license in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico.
